Important News: Changes in visa processing locations

Back to Visas and Citizenship

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection wishes to inform clients in China of changes in responsibility for the processing of visa applications from certain private passport holders.

From 1 July 2014 all applications from private passport holders resident in Shaanxi, Ningxia, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Xizang will be processed in Guangzhou rather than Shanghai. Applicants resident in these provinces should send their visa applications to the Guangzhou AVAC rather than the Shanghai AVAC.

Applications for the following visas should continue to be sent to the Beijing AVAC:
Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity) visa (Subclass 401)
Training and Research visa (Subclass 402)
Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (Subclass 403)

Applicants lodging in person can continue to lodge at their nearest AVAC.

The changes will ensure greater efficiencies in visa processing and improve the service provided to clients in the affected regions.
