Where to apply

Most applications can be submitted in person at your nearest AVAC or by mail or courier to a designated AVAC; however some applications can only be lodged at the Guangzhou Visa Office. See: Where to Submit a Visa Application 

Applying at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC)

Most applications can be submitted in person at your nearest AVAC or by mail or courier to a designated AVAC. See: Where to Submit a Visa Application

PLEASE NOTE: All applications submitted at an AVAC will be assessed and decided by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Staff at an AVAC will have no involvement in the decision-making process nor knowledge of the application outcome.

AVAC Opening Hours:

For submitting visa applications: 07:30 to 15:00, Monday to Friday.

For enquiries and collecting passports: 07:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday 

Appointments are not necessary, however booking an appointment will enable you to attend the AVAC at a time that is convenient for you. Appointments at the AVAC can be made via the online booking system. See:www.australiavisa-china.com/

You do not need an appointment to collect your passport or documentation.

Applying at the Australian Consulate-General Guangzhou

Some applications can only be lodged at the Guangzhou Visa Office. See: Where to Submit a Visa Application

Applying in person - All persons visiting the Development Centre Building are required to produce ID and fill in a visitor registration form at the lobby reception. Visitors also need to deposit RMB50 cash or effective certificate (e.g. ID card, driving license) to receive a visitor card. Before departing the building the visitor must return the card to reception in order to cancel registration and redeem the RMB50 deposit or certificate.

Applying by mail or courier - Please send your application to the postal address in the table below. Please note that for applications lodged by mail to the Australian Consulate-General in Guangzhou, your passports will be returned by EMS and the receiver will be charged on delivery.

Applying online

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection encourages clients to use online services where available. PRC passport holders outside Australia can currently apply for the following visa subclasses online:

• Subclass 574 – Postgraduate Research
• Subclass 155/157 – Resident Return
• Subclass 457 – Temporary Work (skilled)
• Subclass 300 – Prospective Marriage
• Subclass 309 – Spouse Temporary

The following student visa subclasses can be lodged online through an approved eVisa Agent:

• Subclass 570 – Independent ELICOS
• Subclass 571 – Schools
• Subclass 572 – Vocational Education and Training
• Subclass 573 – Higher Education
• Subclass 575 – Non-Award
