Important Messages
You should not finalise any travel arrangements until after you have had your visa evidenced.
Visas are generally evidenced within 3 days of your passport being received by the Visa Office.
How to obtain your visa label
To arrange for a visa label to be placed in a passport, please send the following documentation to the Shanghai Visa Office:
• the passport/s;
• a copy of the approval letter;
• your address in Chinese characters for passport return. Please include both your home and mobile telephone numbers as EMS cannot deliver any mail without a contact telephone number.
The address of the Shanghai Visa Office is:
Visa Office, Australian Consulate General
Suite 406, Shanghai Centre
1376 Nanjing West Road, Shanghai 200040
Shanghai Visa Office will use EMS to deliver passports and documents to clients.
Visas are generally evidenced within 3 days of your passport being received by the Visa Office. Passports will then be returned to you by EMS and EMS will charge the receiver on delivery.
If you need to visit the Consulate office to have visas evidenced, you must make an appointment to do this before visiting the visa office. Appointments can be made by emailing the Visa Office at immigration.shanghai@dfat.gov.au. You will need to include the following details: your full name, date of birth, passport number, and file number.
Please note that due to the high demand for appointments it may be two weeks before an appointment can be scheduled. It is therefore recommended that you use a courier service or registered post.
For your own use, please take note of the relevant courier identification number for the mail you send to us. If you would like to confirm your mail has been received by the visa office, you can generally obtain this information from the website of the courier company you have used.
If you do not receive your passport within 6 days of it being received by this office, you can contact us to obtain a barcode number in order for you to track your mail by calling EMS
