After You Apply
1. After lodging an application, when will I receive my file number?
File numbers are provided in the Acknowledgement Letter sent by DIAC to confirm the receipt of your application. If you send documents to us prior to receiving your file number, please include your full name in English and date of birth.
2. If my documents are not complete, will DIAC refuse me immediately or will they inform me first?
Each application is checked for completeness of supporting documentation. If you do not provide all the requested documents detailed in the documentation checklist when you lodge your application, we may only request further documentation once and will provide a time period in which you must respond to our request. We prefer you to contact us via email advising you have sent additional documents. When sending any correspondence or additional documents to the Australian Embassy in Beijing please include your file number or full name in English and date of birth.
3. Will my original documents be returned after assessment?
Yes, we will return any original documents that you have submitted with your application. These will be returned once your application has been finalised.
