Documentary Requirements

1. Can I lodge my application and then send in further documents at a later date?
DIAC requires you to provide certain documents at the time you lodge your application. These documents are listed on the application checklist, see:
Student Visa Documentation Requirements Checklist.

DIAC checks each application to ensure all supporting documents have been provided. If you do not provide all the documents requested in the application checklist when you lodge, then your application may be refused.

2. Do I need to provide original documents with my application?
The application checklist provides details of the types of documents that are acceptable, see: Student Visa Documentation Requirements Checklist.

Some documents must be originals. These include the IELTS certificate, Letters of Offer and Confirmation of Enrolments from your education provider. Otherwise, you can provide notarised copies of all required documents and notarised English translations.

3. Do I need to submit my passport with my application?
You do not have to submit your passport with your application. However, if you do not require your passport during the assessment period, you may submit your passport with your application. If your passport is not submitted with your application, DIAC will request your passport if you pass the pre-visa assessment stage.
