 Where to Apply

Applicants living in the following provinces should apply at the Australian Consulate General in Shanghai:
•    Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Hebei, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Henan, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Tibet.

Applicants living in the following provinces should apply at the Australian Consulate General in Guangzhou:
•    Guangdong, Fujian, Hunan, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan.

 

Applying in Person

Applying in person by appointment is the preferred method for lodging an application. Applications made in person can generally be processed more quickly than those lodged via mail because we can talk to you about your application and ask you any necessary questions straight away.

When applying in person, you will meet your Case Officer, who will check your application to ensure you have provided all the required documents and may ask some questions in relation to the information you have provided and the nature of your relationship. It is also an opportunity for you to talk to your Case Officer and ask any questions you may have.

To book an appointment to make your application, please call:

(021) 6279 8098 – If you are going to apply in Shanghai

(020) 3814 0250 – If you are going to apply in Guangzhou

You can also book an appointment via e-mail. In your e-mail please include:
• “Partner Appointment” in the subject line
• Your preferred appointment date, at least two(2) weeks from the date of the e-mail
• The visa applicant’s full name and date of birth
• The visa applicant’s passport number
• Which province the applicant resides in
• The applicant’s contact phone number
• The sponsor’s full name and date of birth
• Sponsor’s passport number
• Sponsor’s contact phone number
• Who will attend the interview (eg applicant only, applicant and sponsor)
• Your language preference

You will be contacted the next day with the details of your lodgement interview. 

 

Applying by Mail

If you are unable to lodge your application in person, you can apply via mail. Address details for our offices in Shanghai and Guangzhou and be found at: Contact Us 

Please note than even if you apply by mail, we may still require you to attend an in-person iterview.
