Visa Options
The Business (Short Stay) visa – Subclass 456 - is for visitors who wish to travel to Australia on business for up to 3 months. Business activities may include attending a conference, convention or seminars, undertaking negotiations, business related meetings, networking, or making an exploratory business visit. You can include your partner and dependant children in your visa application.
Visitors, whose business visit to Australia is sponsored by an approved sponsor, can apply for a Sponsored Business Visitor (Short Stay) visa - Subclass 459. Applications for Sponsored Business Visitor (Short Stay) visas are lodged and processed in Australia. For detailed information please see: Business Visit visa options
The APEC Business Travel Card is available to accredited business people from participating economies. Through a single application form, the card allows multiple short-term business visitor entry to participating economies. For detailed information about the scheme please see: APEC Card.
Travelers holding the above visas cannot generally work while they are in Australia. Holders cannot undertake work that could be done by an Australian citizen or permanent resident. In some very limited circumstances, where work is of short duration and a highly specialised nature, work may be permitted.
Stay Periods
Business (Short Stay) visas can allow single or multiple entry – and permit up to three (3) months’ stay in Australia on each occasion. Applicants are able to indicate their preferred number of entries, however the decision maker will determine which is appropriate, taking into account an applicant’s personal circumstances.
You cannot extend this visa after you arrive in Australia. If you need to stay longer than three months for business reasons, you should consider other visa options.
