IMPORTANT NEWS

Changes to the Processing of Family Migration Visa Applications in China

Please be advised that from 1 April 2009 the Australian Visa Office in Guangzhou will process all Family Migration applications for clients residing in the following provinces:

• Guangdong
• Fujian
• Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region
• Hainan
• Yunnan
• Guizhou
• Hunan

If applications from the above provinces are lodged at the Shanghai Visa Office after 1 April 2009, they will be sent to the Guangzhou Visa Office for processing.

Please note that Family Migration applications from all other provinces in China will still be processed by the Shanghai Visa Office.

If you are residing in the above provinces and intend to lodge a Family Migration application after 1 April 2009, please refer your application enquiries to the Guangzhou Visa Office. The contact details of the Guangzhou Visa Office are:

Applying by Mail 

If you are in China and wish to apply for an Other Family Migration visa by mail, please send your application and supporting documentation by mail to the Shanghai Visa Office at the address listed on the Contact Us page. 

You must also ensure that you include a receipt for the correct Visa Application Charge.

Applying In-Person

If you are in China and wish to apply for an Other Family Migration visa in-person at the Shanghai Visa Office, please attend the Visa Office during client service counter hours.

After you lodge your application, an initial assessment will be made based on your application and supporting documentation provided, and within a week of lodgement we will send a letter to you acknowledging receipt of your application, providing contact details and requesting any additional documentation that may be required.without unnecessary delay.

Presenting and Sorting your Documents

Please assist us to process your application as efficiently as possible. To facilitate quick registration of your application, please remove any stationery from your application and supporting documents, including staples, binders, bull clips, paper clips, folders, plastic pockets and post-it notes.
